Centrifuge RPM ↔ RCF Converter

Convert between RPM and relative centrifugal force (RCF, × g).

Distance from the centrifuge axis to the bottom of the tube (use the rotor's maximum radius for the worst-case g-force).

Formula: RCF = 1.118 × 10⁻⁵ × r (cm) × RPM²

Enter the rotor radius and the value to convert.

Description

Relative centrifugal force (RCF, also called g-force) is the actual force experienced by a sample in a centrifuge, depending on both RPM and the rotor radius. RPM alone is not comparable across rotors — RCF is the meaningful quantity.

How to use

Choose a conversion direction. Enter the rotor radius in cm (find it in the rotor manual). Enter the RPM (or RCF) value. The converted value is calculated instantly using the standard formula.
